Leak Sensor
The Double E Leak Sensor detects stuffing box leakage and shuts down the pumping operation until the problem is resolved. On detecting a leak, the unit sends an electrical signal to the control system, which in turn deactivates the pump and, if required, packs off the Double E Pollution Control Stuffing Box, blowout
preventer, or both.
Adding only 3-5⁄8 inches of stack height (measured from the bottom seal to the top of the upper dust seal), the Leak Sensor mounts atop any stuffing box, is secured by a spring and chain, and is easily removed for well-servicing operations.
One of its two large pots functions as a reservoir for feeding lubricant or corrosion-inhibitor to the rod through felt pads, by wick action. The other collects oil leaking from the stuffing box and contains a level switch designed to operate should enough fluid accumulate to make the switch move. In that event, the ensuing electrical signal will cause the controller to take any or all of these actions:
- Shut down the pumping unit.
- Pack off the Double E PC Stuffing Box or BOP, or both.
- Activate a warning alarm.
The control system can be configured for gasoline-engine or electric-motor driven pumping units. |
