May 13, 2004 - Employee Rodrigo Hernandez displays his Seiko wristwatch commemorating 20 years of employment with the company. Including Rodrigo, six employees — out of 33 — have been with Double E for 20 years or longer. The average term of service exceeds 12 years, which, we're proud to say, suggests that Double E Incorporated must be a pretty good place to work.

Double-E Appoints New Sales Manager

Dallas, Texas - Richard Campobasso has joined Double E, Inc. as sales manager. Mr. Campobasso's 22 years of experience in sales, sales support, and product management includes expanding distribution networks -- from 20 distributors to over 200 for his previous employer -- and launching new products internationally. His appointment strengthens Double E's ability to grow market share at the supply-store level while continuing to respond swiftly and precisely to the evolving product needs of the oil and gas industry.

New Capillary Tubing BOP Offers 10,000 psi Pressure Rating

Dallas, Texas - A new blow-out preventer engineered specifically for demanding capillary tubing applications, including sour service, is now available from Double E. Based on the company's thoroughly proven designs, the Cap Tubing BOP has been pressure tested at 15,000 psi to ensure dependable performance at working pressures at or below its 10,000-psi rating. The hydraulically operated tool accommodates a 1½-inch vertical bore and uses 2½-inch unions for fast, secure connections. It features shear rams in addition to sealing rams for ¼-inch capillary tubing.

Double E Rubber Rod Guides for High-Temperature Wells Offer Reduced Maintenance, Improved Lifting Performance

Dallas, Texas - Designed to handle well temperatures of up to 250 degrees F, Double E rubber rod guides can help reduce oilfield production costs by extending the life of sucker rods and tubing while increasing lifting efficiency. They reduce rod and tubing wear -- and related maintenance expense -- by acting as bushings that hold the rod couplings away from the tubing. They enhance lifting performance by helping the rods fall straight, without buckling, for a longer pumping stroke.

The guides are manufactured using an ultra-durable rubber compound for long life and efficient service under hot conditions. They are field replaceable and incorporate larger wear surfaces to provide superior longevity versus competitive brands.

Double E rubber rod guides are available for 2-3/8 and 2-7/8 inch tubing sizes and sucker rods of 5/8-inch to 1-inch diameter. They grip securely with a slotted, spring-backed design, and can be installed easily with a hammer. The company also manufactures extended-life nylon rod guides that are unaffected by well fluids, including hydrogen-sulfide and carbon-dioxide solutions, and withstand temperatures to 160 degrees F.

Double E nylon rod guides grip securely and snap on and off for easy field installation and replacement. They're available for 2-3/8, 2-7/8, and 3-inch tubing sizes and sucker rods of 5/8-inch to 1-inch diameter. The company also manufactures rubber rod guides for wells with elevated temperatures as great as 250 degrees F.

Double E Production BOP Closes on Zero to 1½" Rod Diameter

Dallas, Texas - Double E, a leading producer of oilfield tools for production and wireline operations, now offers a uniquely versatile blowout preventer featuring two-piece rams that can close on zero as well as all rod sizes up to 1½ inches in diameter.

"We engineered our model LP-15 blowout preventer not only to be a rugged and economical production tool but capable of shutting down a well even if there's no rod in the hole," said Eric Cassidy, Double E vice president.

The LP-15's patented ram system features a sturdy pin-and-socket design combining a rubber element and a ductile iron plate. This arrangement enhances safety by resisting upward pressure thrusts and avoiding the separation failures that sometimes occur with bonded assemblies.

O-ring sealed, the LP-15 promotes quick ram and rubber replacements and fulfills low-pressure control requirements for pulling rods or sealing polished rods. It weighs 41 pounds, stands 9½ inches high, and is available in standard thread connections and combinations; options include handles and special elastomer rams.

Double E Pumping Stack Combines Four Oil Tools in One Assembly

Dallas, Texas - Double E, Inc. offers the Pumping Stack, a new hybrid product that compactly combines a blowout preventer, flow tee, stuffing box, and polished rod lubricator in one easily installed and serviced assembly.

The four-tools-in-one combination offers a cost-effective alternative to purchasing separate tools, and reduces the time and effort required for installation.  In addition, the shortened stack height of the compact design maximizes stroke.  The unit can be easily serviced by simply using the standard packing-removal procedure.

The Pumping Stack Type offers 2,000 PSI working pressure and 4,000 PSI test pressure.  The dual-packing design combining the blowout preventer and stuffing box gives shut-off for 0 to 1-1/2-diameter rod, at rated pressure.

The Pumping Stack utilizes the key features of the quality, field-proven tools that have been designed by Double E, a company with 80 years of oil field experience.

Double E Now Offers Oil Saver for Capillary Tubing Applications

Dallas, Texas - Double E, Inc. introduces the Cap King, a hydraulic pack-off designed specifically for workover applications utilizing capillary tubing.

The Cap King is unique in workover equipment, offering the benefits of hanging your tubing, reliably controlling well pressure, and providing long, trouble-free service to the emerging capillary tubing application. This tool is normally left on the well for long-term pressure control.

Like Double E's other field-proven hydraulic oil savers, the new Cap King is constructed from heat-treated alloy steel with a corrosion-resistant CAD-plated surface finish. It is rated at 5,000 PSI working pressure (10,000 PSI test pressure) and closes on 1/4- and 3/8-inch tubing. The Cap King is available to meet all standard line sizes.

Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, and founded in 1923, Double E is a leading producer of oilfield tools and accessories for production and wireline operations. The company offers stock items - blowout preventers, oil savers, flapper valves, leak sensors, and more - for standard applications, and will customize its equipment to meet special requirements.
